Our good friends, the Allen's, are moving this summer so we wanted to do a fun last trip with them. We have always wanted to go to Austin and see some of the sights there, especially the bats that live under a bridge. So, we took one Saturday and went.
There was this really cool swimming area that they have. It's a river but they cleaned it and dammed it up for swimming.
We visited a little botanical garden type place where the kids could dig for dinosaur bones and learn up bugs and such.
Did I mention it was deadly hot???
To end our day, we went to the bridge in Austin where everynight, thousands of bats pour out of it to go hunt for food... or so we thought.
We were there until well after the sun went down, and NO bats! Rumor was that they didn't show the night before either because they were all having babies...lazy bats! Who stays in their house for multiple days JUST to give birth?!? The nerve!
We had a great day in Austin anyway and were definitely exhausted by the end.
